L’Austral Ship Tour
Ponant – L’Austral – 25 January 2018 – AP
Ship was well presented with nice colours and tones. Had a spacious feel to it. Crew on board were French / English speaking and were welcoming.
Theatre was nice and cosy, not too big. Was able to hold every passenger on board whilst doing a show.
Gym was standard. Had equipment most other cruise lines had on board.
Dining rooms were well appointed. Colours used in dining rooms gave it a fresh feel. Nice use of plates and cutlery.
The massages are on board are reasonably priced. There was a small Sauna as well.
There is a very small kids area on board with Nintendo.
Room 604 – We were able to inspect this room. This room was the Suite De l’ Armature on deck Mahe. Suite was well laid out with a dining area. The suite had 2 toilets which is always a plus. The room had a nice feel to it with a small veranda. Hermes was the choice of body washes and soaps on board – French luxury brand.
There is a small pool on the back deck of the ship which also has an open air bar. There is a designated smoking area around there.
Library on board has books of some languages. Mostly French and English. Situated next to the library is the cocktail bar which has also live entertainment on selected evenings.
Canape’s were served in the bar area which were a mix of international finger foods and champagne as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
Big draw card for Ponant is on some sailings they don’t slam single passengers. Its nice to see some cruise lines giving a break to single travellers.
Overall was a nice ship. Small and intimate feel to it.
